I picked this post today because I have felt a surge of inspiration these past few days. It started on Friday while on my flight from Los Angeles to Minneapolis when I was able to watch Former First Lady Nancy Reagan’s Funeral in it’s entirety. I was extremely moved by her ceremony and the people that spoke during it, including her children. The other two things that inspired me this weekend were my friends and the lives they are leading as well as some of the TV shows I’ve been watching. All three of these inspirations are connected with each other for me this week.
- Former First Lady Nancy Reagan’s Funeral- First off I was thankful my Delta flight had the live TV option this past Friday, as well as my flight time landing right at the airing time of the funeral. I thought it was a beautiful and graceful ceremony just like Mrs Reagan her self. She had her some of her close friends, which also happen to be prominent figures within their fields, express their thoughts about her. My favorite had to be Diane Sawyer (another woman I admire greatly), she infused some humor into her remarks and as always conveyed empathy in her words. Tom Brokaw and James Baker (the former Chief of Staff) described her elegance, determinedness and poise as well as her love for her husband. The love that her and former President Reagan had was the overwhelming theme of her life and I hope to be just as lucky to find someone where you can have that type of devotion to each other. I think it’s a beautiful way to spend your life. Her daughter was my favorite speaker because she shed light on their relationship and the imperfections her mother had. No one is perfect and it showed that even though Mrs Reagan worked very hard to have all those wonderful things in her life, there are negative parts too. Sometimes it’s sad to think of how we don’t care ourselves like the older generation did. They lived their lives with love, respect and purpose. Watching her funeral reminded me that I can strive for those things daily in my own little ways to create a life worth living in my eyes 🙂 First Lady’s have always inspired me (since I was Jackie Kennedy in a fourth grade biography project 🙂 ) and I’m so excited to read the book
First Women: The Grace and Power of America’s Modern First Ladies.
I feel like I can continue to learn something from the way all these women conduct their lives.
- Watching my friends become wives and mothers- I spent some time with my good friends from college who I traveled the world with during our study abroad semester. They both live in the midwest and are married, while one just became a first time mom. Those are two things I have wanted for quite some time now, marriage and children, and watching my friends go through the early stages has shown me how beautiful this time can be. It’s scary and exciting and I can’t wait to experience it for myself. Having a partner in life and raising a little human in this world are two things that can bring immense joy and stress but I always believe you’re a better person for having people by your side in life. Family is always the most important thing!
- Favorite TV Shows-I won’t really name all the tv shows that I’ve watched the past few days (it would be a too long of a list haha) but they have all inspired me in some way. Many of them have reminded me of my love of acting and that I must keep pursuing that in order to truly be myself. Sometimes I feel like I can do multiple things in life as far as my career path is concerned but I always need to remember the joy and fulfillment being an Actor brings me. They also remind me to pursue everything I possibly can and make the most of this life given to me 🙂
It might be a lot for a mid week post but I’m feeling inspired and thought I should write about it plus Spring is my favorite season (my birthday season!!). Spring always feels inspiring and like new things are on the horizon. I would love to hear what’s inspiring you lately! Leave a comment below 🙂
