4 US Destinations To Consider in 2017

01/18/2017 12 Comments

Haven’t decided on a destination for your 2017 vacation yet? Well let me offer up four beautiful destinations right here in the US to consider this year. No matter the season these places offer a wide range of activities to explore and relax.

St George, Utah

Zion National Park

The southwest is always a great area to explore in the US. The St. George, UT area boasts 4 star resorts where you can unwind and relax or beautiful camping grounds around Zion National Park, if you really want to unplug on your vacation. If you are looking for more of an adventure during your trip, then check out the hiking, ATVing and even skydiving thats available all in one unique place.

Asheville, North Carolina

Asheville is not a place people often think of as a vacation destination, but after staying overnight there in 2011, I feel I need to spread the word. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville boasts both beautiful views during outdoor activities while housing historical sites. Want to take a trip back to the Gilded Age? Take a tour of the remarkable Biltmore Estate.

There are many opportunities for foodie’s to get their fill and shoppers to find unique buys as well.

Big Sky, Montana

Blue Sky, Montana is still on my bucket list. It’s a great place to visit in both summer and winter (skiing anyone?!). In the warmer months it offers hiking, zip-lining, rock climbing and white water rafting. The scenery in both seasons looks amazing and it’s under an hour drive to Yellow Stone National Park, if you are looking to cross another one off your list. Anyone else want to get to as many national parks as possible?!

Memphis, Tennessee

Most people think of Nashville when thinking of a southern city to visit but I’m here to make a case for Memphis! You didn’t think I forgot the foodies out there did you?!

One of my best girlfriends has lived in Memphis for over 5 years now and I’ve been so lucky to visit her twice. Both times were filled with great food, interesting places to see and extra friendliness I wasn’t expecting. Beale Street and Graceland have magic of their own, but I was partial to the food. From the oldest cafe in Memphis, Arcade Restaurant, to The Majestic Grille and Rendezvous, the food was amazing. If you are looking for a spot to explore some history, enjoy a night out on the town and eat all the tasty BBQ you can, then Memphis is your destination.

Beale Street after a delicious meal at BB King’s.

What destinations do you have planned for 2017?? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Thinking about these four destinations today is seriously curing my wanderlust 🙂

I would love to visit all the cities that you just mentioned, but especially Asheville and Memphis! We had such a fun time exploring Nashville a couple of years ago, so I’d love to visit another music and foodie city in Tennessee!

Some of my best friends went to college in Utah and one of my biggest regrets is not visiting enough and traveling around the state with them! Love this post! Thanks for all the travel inspo – it always feels like we need to leave the country to visit beautiful places, it’s nice to be reminded of the beautiful places near by!

Memphis is definitely on my list, that picture of Asheville is gorgeous… and I feel like I need to see Montana for sure! (Same with Utah… lol)

Asheville is lovely, and there’s a smaller town nearby (Hendersonville) that’s equally lovely but doesn’t have as much tourist traffic. Good list!

I would love to go to Utah or Montana one day. I’ve been several places in TN, but not Memphis, and have been BY Asheville many times but never stopped (I need to!).

We were in Memphis briefly last August for a wedding. I’d like to go back and explore it more. I used to have some relatives who lived in St George and I went to visit them once as a kid. I haven’t been back in years and I’ve forgotten a lot about it so it might be time for a revisit soon.

I would love to go to St George again!

My family is traveling to Asia in a few weeks – we will visiting Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. We also have plans to visit Richmond, and Clearwater, FL.

Thanks for sharing these! I really want to visit Memphis and also Nashville! I’ve never been to Tennessee!
