5 Carry-On Travel Essentials

05/16/2016 10 Comments

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend 🙂

I get asked a lot about my methods of travel by family and friends so I thought there were a few posts I could do that answered some of those questions. Today I’m talking about what my 5 essential items are for my carry-on whether I’m going on a plane, train or bus!

Headphones

Headphones had to be my number one essential even before my phone! There is no way I get through any mode of transportation to my destination without headphones and actual the Bose kind specifically. I have never liked apples ear buds that come with your iPhone. They never fit right and definitely don’t block out noise. I like to feel like the sound whether I’m listening to music or podcasts or videos is all encompassing. I even use these for my workouts because of the quality of sound! I’m not usually a talker while traveling so having headphones accessible in my bag when I get to my seat is a must!

iPhone

Ok so everyone probably puts their iPhone on their list because how do we live without them for 2+hrs?! haha but really they offer so much entertainment in the form of music, games, scrolling through photos and if you have wifi then Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram etc. Occasionally I use the travel time to organize and edit photos on my phone and write notes or posts in the notepad section. I swear I read sometimes because  uninterrupted time is hard to come by.

Water/Water bottle

I hate to be anywhere without water, let alone on a plane, train or bus. I always make sure to pack my favorite water bottle or buy water if I have forgotten it. I always have this fear I’ll be stuck somewhere for hours without anything to eat or drink, so you can usually find a small snack and water in my carry-on. Anyone else have that fear?!

Scarf

No matter the time of year that I’m traveling I always make sure to wear a scarf. I’m a person who would rather be cold than hot but sometimes you really need an extra layer and a scarf is the perfect essential. It can double as a blanket or rolled up for a pillow. You can cover your face or nose with it if you feel it necessary, especially when odors travel through the small space you are traveling in. It’s fashionable and light weight too!

Mophie/External Charger

I have used Mophies for a few years now and I don’t know what I would do without them. Just like water, you can be without an outlet for a long time too. It’s sad to be that attached to electronics but my Mophie has come in handy on my trips as well as my day to day life. A Mophie is an external charger you carry with you that has a usb port to plug your phone charger into to charge your device back to 100%. There are many other brands on the market these days but I have continued to buy Mophie.

I have a few other items I love to bring with me on trips but these 5 remain the most important. Leave a comment below if you have any carry-on essentials!

Thanks for stopping by Lydia! I would have put a book but sometimes I have magazines too. I also get caught up in movies too if my seat has a media screen 🙂

Love those scarves you featured! So pretty! 🙂

I typically take everything you mentioned except the water bottle. That’s one thing I splurge on while traveling – water.

Awww thanks Mandy! I love a good scarf 🙂 I use to get a water bottle every time I flew, but I can over pack sometimes and I was finding there wasn’t enough room in my carry-ons for a huge water bottle. I love being able to wrap that one up now! Thanks for stopping by:-)

I’m a huge proponent for scarf wear, both at home and especially while traveling! They’re so versatile! I agree also with having headphones on the list. I never pack them, but always wish I did when I’m on the plane stuck using the ones they hand out late and collect early. Thanks for linking up with us on #TravelTuesday!

I love this link up Katrina, thanks for stopping by! I agree, the headphones they hand out on airplanes aren’t always convenient. I also feel like they never fit my ears lol.

This list is extremely similar to mine! Except I still need to buy myself an external charger, and I desperately need a good pair of headphones. I’ve got my eye on a pair of Bose when I travel to the US later this year, I think they’re quite a lot cheaper over there. I also always have some analogue entertainment like a book, just in case all my batteries die/no electronics are allowed.
