December Goals Recap

01/04/2017 6 Comments

Today I’m recapping the goals I made to get more out of the holiday season during the month of December.

I love making goals for the season because they fill my time with things I might not other wise get to.

-Read a Christmas themed book

I read Winter Street which is the second book in the three book series by Elin Hilderbrand. It’s a story about a family during Christmas time who love and work on Nantucket. I love her books all her books that I’ve read so far. This series really gets you in the New England Christmas spirit.

-Make crockpot hot chocolate

This recipe was so yummy, it was very indulgent! I pinned it awhile ago and couldn’t wait to try it. It was the perfect drink to sip while sitting next to the tree watching Christmas movies. I also love to swirl a candy cane around the mug to give it an extra flavor 🙂

-Ice skate with family/friends

Cousin skate 2016 was a success! Every year my girl cousins on both sides and I meet up the day or two after Christmas to ice skate together at the local rink. Unfortunately, due to travel for a lot of my girls, this year there were only four of us. Usually, there can be up to 10. We still had an awesome time and I love this little tradition with my family.

I also plan to ice skate a few more times this season since I love to skate.

-Watch a Hallmark Christmas movie and favorite Christmas movie

I watched a new Hallmark movie this year called Charming Christmas and really liked it. I wanted to see it because Rory’s dad from Gilmore Girls was in it lol. It was a cute story about a business owner and her in-store Santa falling in love.

Then of course there was The Family Stone, I can’t not watch it during Christmas time. I wrapped presents and drank red wine while watching it. #Perfection

-Donate to two charities for the holiday season

I wanted to make sure I gave back during this season and I’m glad I was able to do that in two different ways. I prefer to keep how I did it to myself, but I think it is an important goal to have and that I hold myself to it.

-Drive through a Christmas lights in the park

Ok so I didn’t drive through a park. However, there is this awesome display that a local business puts on along a stretch of one of the highways near my parents. The night I threw my Christmas party with my girlfriends I drove by it slowly while listening to Kelly Clarkson’s Christmas album 🙂

-Host a Christmas party for friends

Every year my high school girlfriends get together for a christmas party and I’ve hosted the past two years. I loved getting everything ready this year including my favorite Christmas Sangria

We decided on an Italian themed dinner this year. Yes to chicken parm and garlic bread!

We even had a special new girlfriend join us the year, Miss Eliana. Our first friend to have a baby brought her little angel?.  We keep it pretty casual and don’t go any gift exchanges. Everyone just brings something to share. Good food, good wine, and good friends are the best way to celebrate the holiday season.

-Make a new Christmas cookie recipe and my Christmas sangria for Christmas Eve

Ok so I never got around to trying a new Christmas cookie recipe but who says I can’t make one this month right?! I did however make the sangria again for my aunts on Christmas Eve and my grandparents house on Christmas Day. My family asks me if I’m bringing it every year now they like it so much. I’m a huge fan too.

There you go, nothing too crazy goal wise. Fun, easy goals for me to soak up the most of the Christmas season.

I will be posting about overall Winter Goals sometime this month because there are a few more things I’d like to get out of the winter season!

See you tomorrow for a recap of my trip to Paris last year during this time!

You did really well on your winter goals. That’s awesome. I had a mini Christmas party. Mini because a lot of people couldn’t make it, but it was still a nice evening and we exchanged cookies.
