Dessert First is back! New York Part One Style!

Listen, it would probably take me years to eat my way through every dessert place in the New York City area. I have to take my time in order to “keep my girlish figure” as my grandma would say 😉

So today I’m reviewing my first 3 spots to stop for a lovely treat if you live in NYC or if you are visiting and want to make a point to venture to one of these places. They are taking over Instagram right now!

Emack & Bolio’s

Emack & Bolio’s is an ice cream shop with a few locations in NYC and MA, FL and IL. This is cool because if you aren’t visiting the NYC area any time soon, check out their locations in those states! They have fun flavors and pretty much every single sugary cereal you can think of to add to your ice cream masterpiece. They also have a variety of cones if you aren’t satisfied with just a plain old sugar cone. I know the shop in Upstate New York has a great seating area with games to plan while you enjoy your ice cream, so I’m not sure if the other locations in NYC offer that as well but it’s a bonus. Check out their Instagram for more I gotta go right now inspiration!

10Below is a Thai inspired ice cream roll shop located downtown in Chinatown and in Flushing, NY. They individually roll your ice cream order up, kind of like a bartender, and add the toppings you want. I have to say I was really impressed watching these guys use what looked like ice carvers on flat cold stone tablets to make the ice cream rolls come to life in a about a minute. They have all kinds of flavors to choose from, sweet to savory, and similar to a frozen yogurt bar array of toppings. I ordered one of the special items on the menu called Peanut Butter and Jealous which amazingly tasted like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The line was pretty decent when I visited, I went closer to closing time on a Wednesday night. I recommend giving yourself enough time to wait in line though because I guess normally it can be over an hour!

Schmackary’s Cookies

I don’t discriminate when it comes to desserts so I had to visit a popular cookie store too on my first go around. They didn’t disappoint! I visited their Hell’s Kitchen location and they were some of the best cookies I’ve had in a long time. I ordered the Peanut Butter Patty,  Choconut Chip, and the Schmacker-doodle with a coffee and enjoyed a nice little afternoon there. I have to say the Schmacker-doodle was a fabulous take on the classic and the Peanut Butter Patty satisfied my Peanut Butter Cup Addiction. It was pretty busy through out my entire visit, Upper West Side school kids, Broadway fans and Millennials were constantly flowing through the door ordering bags of these cookies so I knew I wasn’t the only fan. They do online ordering too so if you just got a cookie craving after this review I suggest ordering the Schmacker-doodles asap 🙂

I’m sure it won’t be too long before I am able to write about 3 more amazing dessert places in NYC, so until then…I’m eating salad…JK 😉
