I’m still dreaming about the flight of little ice cream cones that I devoured in .5 seconds at Hammond’s Gourmet Ice Cream in North Park, San Diego, CA this past weekend! It definitely was a highlight of my trip!
In the spirit of my Dessert First series and all around lifestyle choice, I actually did eat at Hammond’s before hoping over to Little Italy for dinner. (If you missed my post “A Weekend in San Diego” here it is!)
I swear I didn’t get two flights, the second one is my friend Stacey’s selection but I was tempted too just to try all their flavors. Here are the flavors I liked out of my six and the other ones that just didn’t hit the spot for me. Remember I’m a chocolate girl and peanut butter girl so my favorite flavor had to be the Chocolate Peanut Butter Oreo (LIKE WHAT?! Peanut Butter & Oreos, perfection! ) The other two I really liked were the Chocolate Coconut Macadamia Nut and Peanut Butter Guava Jelly. These next three I could take or leave: Tahitian Vanilla, Vegan Chocolate and Brown Sugar. Nothing particularly wrong them with but the crazy thing is there are many more flavors to choose from. I think that is what set this place apart, their variety of flavors. If you are going to have a flight theme then you better have some options 🙂
The Living Room is a coffee house located on the main strip in La Jolla, California. It has an array of pastries and I tried the baklava which had a bit of chocolate on top. It was really tasty with my iced coffee and seemed pretty authentic. This place had a hipster vibe to it and was with in walking distance to the main tourist attraction in La Jolla called Seal Beach.
I wish I got to try a few more dessert/bakery places while touring around San Diego but I know I’ll be back. However a few exciting recommendations by locals while I was there were: Nomad’s Donuts, Le Parfait Paris, and Pappalecco.
In the meantime if you have any good recommendations, leave them in a comment below!
