Happy Friday Friends!
To all my East Coasters, I hope you are staying safe and warm! The cold temps are no joke and most of my favorites this week center on keeping warm lol. I’ve also felt extremely motivated with this being the first week in the New Year. It always gives me a little jolt to continue focusing on the things that are important to me.

I’ve also been inspired by all of you out there in the blogging community sharing your goals for the year. Instead of listing mine, I thought I would share that I’m choosing one word, as I did last year, to focus on. Funny enough the word I’m choosing is FOCUS! In every aspect of my day I want to focus more. Focus on what I’m saying, what I’m eating, who I’m talking to and how my body is feeling. I also want to focus on the blog and bring new helpful and honest content. Cheers to 2018!
Now on to the favorites…
Skiing in Lake Placid
Over New Years J and I went skiing at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, NY. It was cold but we enjoyed the atmosphere, the lodge, the breweries and even ice skating in negative temps lol. I definitely want to go back and do a full weekend post on where to stay, what to do and where to eat this year!
For my skiers out there, this face mask was a life saver in this below 0 temps!
Cold Weather Skin Essentials
This cold weather has wreaked havoc on my skin. I’ve been waking up the past week feeling like a mannequin I’m so dry lol. So it was time to break out the reinforcements even though I already use Clinique’s Overnight Moisture Surge Mask every night. Here are a few more products on rotation this week:
During the winter, and sometimes at other points of the year, I like to sleep with a humidifier. I find it makes a huge difference in how I feel when I wake up in the morning. I even used one every night when I lived in Los Angeles for 5 years since it was SO DRY out there all the time. This one right here has been a lifesaver this week. I even keep it on during the day when I’m working.
This one from Pure Enrichment is another great option and less expensive.
Anyone else out there need a humidifier when they sleep?!
Outfit of the Week
I barely took my jacket off this week so I don’t have a full outfit to share, but I wanted to share my leggings I wore multiple times over the Christmas break. They are so comfy and warm, plus they hold up really well over several washings.
New Year Essentials
I picked up a planner, set up my two new daily calendars and starting writing to do lists this week. I haven’t had a physical planner in a few years and after a few days of using it I don’t know what I was thinking. I feel so much better writing everything down. I picked this planner too because of the front cover. ONE DAY AT A TIME. I’m going to need that reminder all year.
My two calendars were favorites all last year. I buy women’s wit for my sister and I every year. After reading Gretchen Rubin’s Happiness Project, I decided to pick up her calendar for the daily reminders on how to live a better life.
Where I Want to Be
Just because I need to remind myself these cold temps will pass lol
I’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment below with what type of posts you would like to see more of on Cupcake N Dreams this year. Style? Travel? Personal?
I’m also so excited to be featured on Erica at Whimsical September’s Saturday Sitdown tomorrow! It’s a great place to get to know your favorite bloggers!
