Halloween Costumes Ideas

Halloween is just around the corner!

I love perusing Pinterest for halloween costume ideas this time of year. I’m a huge fan of halloween because as an actor and a dancer, I love to dress up in costumes. I thought it’d be fun to go through my last few years of costumes since they all started from something I had in my closet.

Halloween 2015-Dia De Los Muertos

Last year was a super fun one! I was excited to try out the sugar skull makeup and inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, Twist Me Pretty to create the head piece. I got all the materials for the headband at Michaels and put on a black dress/black tights and called it a night 😉

2014-Shae from Game of Thrones

She Halloween

This costume was exciting because Game of Thrones is one of my favorite TV shows. My friends were throwing a Halloween house warming party that year and they are big GoT fans so I decided to go as the closest character to my look, Shae. She was the lover of Tyrion, which is why I got a little doll of him at Barnes and Noble. I don’t want to include any spoilers in this post but there is a reason I have a chain around him ;-). The hair and make up were really easy for this costume and I had this pink dress from Lulu’ s that can be wore more than 10 different ways.

2013-Rosie the Riveter
Rosie the Riveter

Rosie is always an easy throw together outfit! These days chambray shirts are everywhere and if you pair one with dark skinny jeans, tan boots and some red lipstick, you are ready to go! Don’t forget to throw in a red or red/black bandana with a pin curl in front for the finishing touches.Rosie the Riveter

I love dressing up for Halloween and I’m not sure I will get the chance this year, but what have been so of your favorite costumes in the past? I always love seeing/hearing about people’s ideas. Leave a link below to a post you did on costumes too!

I went with sugar skull makeup one year, I loved it! I was debating doing it again this year but think I’m gonna go for creepy cheshire cat. Since moving to England I feel like I have to up my scary costume game, because they think Halloween costumes have to be scary or creepy and you can’t just be anything you want. My first year here I was a giraffe and I didn’t care how much I got made fun of haha.

I think applying the makeup is the best part of the sugar skull costume! I love the cheshire cat idea though, that’s an interesting tidbit about the British and their Halloween traditions! Way to stick with what you want to be 🙂 Thanks for stopping by Dannielle!
