I experienced my first stay at a boutique hotel in New York City a few months ago and I thought now would be a great time to review it. I figured some of you may start planning fall and holiday trips to the Big Apple and might look at a boutique hotel as a great alternative. I stayed at The Marcel at Gramercy for 1 night and it was a fabulous experience.
My favorite things about this hotel were it’s location in midtown Manhattan, it’s trendy decor and it’s lounge on the 10th floor. It’s located a short distance from Madison Square Park and close to the 6, N, and R trains. It boasts comfortable yet chic guest rooms with up to date bathrooms similar to what you would find in Europe. The beds were comfy and I felt like the room had more space than other New York hotel rooms I’ve experienced. They had a great space to get some work done in the room as well. However, the business lounge and terrace on the 10th floor is the real gem of this place. It has a phenomenal view of the Empire State Building and on warm days you can enjoy their lounge chairs while working or relaxing. It’s a nice little city oasis up on the 10th floor. They offer snacks and coffee all day in the lounge as well as free wifi. We all know how much we seek out that free wifi 😉
An added bonus to the hotel was having Natsumi Tapas attached as the hotel restaurant. It’s a newly opened Japanese-Italian fusion bar and restaurant that offers an interesting menu. I really liked the mixture of yummy meatballs and delicious sushi while enjoying a glass of white wine. Crazy I know, but these guys do it right! Even if you don’t stay at The Marcel, I recommend checking out Natsumi for dinner or happy hour!
Has anyone else had a good experience with boutique hotels around the U.S.? I would definitely stay here again in the future. Leave a comment with your experience below!
