Weekending: Capital Region

Happy Monday friends!

I’m back with another edition of #Weekending with my girl Biana! After TBEX, and before it, I decided I wanted to explore and write more about my hometown area. The Northeast has so many special places that deserve to be explored and I want to bring a little light to as many as I can. That’s a goal of mine this summer, to travel local. This weekend happened to be a great one to start exploring more of the Capital Region of New York. A place, I highly recommend you visit at some point! Here’s some highlights.

Fridays in the spring scream happy hour right?! I went out with some girlfriends and ventured to Troy, NY (home of Uncle Sam), where new spots are popping up in the downtown area all the time. Lucas Confectionary is new to me, but has actually been around for a few years.

It’s an alluring wine bar offering craft wine, beer and small plates with exposed brick and a private garden area suitable for parties. It’s adjourned to a causal dining restaurant, Peck’s Arcade, which made Open Table’s 100 Hottest Restaurants in America in 2016. The two establishments are also connected to Little Pecks, an all day cafe offering coffee, pastries and snacks. I love finding new spots, especially in unassuming places!

Saturday was my first Saratoga Brewfest. Craft beer breweries from all over the country come to the historic Saratoga Race Track for an afternoon of beer tasting. You pay a fee and walk around with your souvenir glass tasting all different brews. I’m a sucker for a blonde pale ale or one with some type of fruity flavor, especially in the summer. I found some summer ale favorites from the Lake Placid Brewery, Cisco Brewers from Nantucket and the Brooklyn Brewery.

The fest had some drinking games, with water of course, spread out around the track. I haven’t played beer pong in a while and it showed. It was such a blast spending the day with friends and family listening to the live music in the perfect 68º weather!

I had a special improv show at night for our artistic director who turned 60, which my parents and some of their friends came too.

Couldn’t have asked for a better day 🙂

The weather finally cooperated to make my first visit of the year to the Spa City Farmer’s Market.

This one is my favorite because it takes place in the Saratoga Spa State Park.

My goals were to find coffee and  buy pretty flowers and herbs to step up my gardening game this year.

Oh and eat delicious crepes with my mom 🙂

Hope everyone else had a lovely weekend too!!

I’ve never been to Saratoga and I have a few friends that I work with that are from there and then a few that go for the races so it’s definitely an area that I need to explore! So glad you had a great time! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston
