What’s Up Wednesday August 2016

Happy Wednesday Friends! I got back late last night from my first Red Sox’s game at Fenway Park so this post is a little late. It feels appropriate though to be linking up today with Shay from Mix and Match Mama since that it one of her favorite places 😉

What I’m Eating This Week

It’s been a ton of summer cookouts and fun dinners out lately. I’ve also been trying to cook at home Monday-Wednesday nights to keep with a healthy lifestyle. I find that’s the easiest way for me to stay on track, commit to lunches and dinners in on the first days of the week. However this Trader Joe’s BBQ Chicken Dip recipe is not on that healthy menu but it’s delish! I walked into the store on Thursday afternoon and this was their “try it food”, as I call it. The lady told me quickly how to cook but I’m not sure if I got the exact recipe correct, I ended up cooking it similar to how you would a buffalo chicken dip. It was a huge hit this weekend at the lake!

BBQ Chicken Dip Trader Joe's

Mix 1 package of cream cheese with 1 can of chicken and 1/2 cup of bbq sauce. Cook it in an 8×8 pan for 20 mins. Add shredded cheese to the top for the last two minutes to let it crisp. Serve with corn chip dippers, all ingredients from Trader Joe’s!

What I’m Reminiscing About

sydney opera house

Australia. After my friends that I made in Australia visited this past month it had me reminiscing about our time living down under. I did a post on my top 5 things to see in Sydney and I will have more on other destinations we traveled to in Oz next month.

What I’m Loving

Fires with s’mores! My dad had some great fires going this past weekend at the lake and I enjoyed my first s’mores of the summer 🙂 Nothing taste’s like summer quite like a s’more. Oh and also Beyonce’s performance at the VMA’s, it was like her own little concert! Nobody can hold a candle to her talent. #AllHailQueenB

What I’ve Been Up Too

Working on upcoming trips this fall to some beautiful cities in the Northeast 🙂 Making sure I have new travel content to add to this blog. Also actively doing all the things I’ve wanted to do to get the most out of summer. Going to a Red Sox game last night was one of them! I will recap part of that on Friday Favorites this week.

What I’m Dreading

I’m not the biggest fall fan, I know it’s crazy. I’m from a place where the season changes are gorgeous and I’ve missed that part of life for the past few years while I lived in Los Angeles. However, I’m a huge spring/summer fan because of the warm temps, sunny days, summer clothes and activities that come with those seasons. I also love the longer days and dislike how quick the years go by when you wake up and see September on the calendar. The end of summer is like one long Sunday night and I had problems with those growing up lol. It’s not all dread though, I love football season and going to the games, I love apples and wearing booties and I’m a huge fan of Halloween lol. So it’s not all doom and gloom but if I had to pick something that made me feel dread its the fall/winter approaching.

What I’m Working On

Go Pro / Patriots Training Camp

My family video for Summer 2016. Every year I record various days through out the summer of everyone in my family to put together to what we designate the summer song. It’s been a fun tradition through the last 5 years and everyone looks forward to it. They all love looking back at everyone having fun and all the kids growing up each year. Since we don’t have home movies much anymore it’s a really fun alternative; lip-syncing and dancing to an upbeat summer song. I’m really happy to facilitate the cherished videos.

What I’m Excited About

Football season!!! I can’t wait to watch my Patriots all season long. Seriously if I didn’t have my Pats during the fall it would make the season less bearable. I grew up in a football family and we have been season ticket holders for the New England Patriots for the last 24 years, so that’s where my love of football comes form 🙂

What I’m Watching/Reading

Late August is my usual exile from TV. I find that I watch so much through out the year, mainly due to my job and media interests, but I try to consume as little as possible for the last few weeks of summer to give myself a break. I use the lack of great TV to spend more time reading and soaking up the last few days of summer bliss outside. HOWEVER haha I have caught up on Pretty Little Liars and I’m sad yet happy they are wrapping everything up. It’s gotten back to being really exciting these last few episodes. Not to mention I love getting outfit inspiration for the fall 🙂 That’s the biggest part I will miss when the series ends next spring; style inspiration.

I’m also almost done with the new Harry Potter book and the further I get in it the more I understand the mix reactions to the new story. I like it but not as much as the original 7. I’m trying to hurry thorough it too because I have a stack of new books I can’t wait to get to as well, including the Girl on The Train! I want to read that before it comes to theaters!

What I’m Listening too

Did you hear this song during the olympics for female athletes?! Love working out to it now!

Girl Power. haha I’ve been playing non-stop Beyonce (seriously did you see her VMA performance?!), Nicki Minaj, Miranda Lambert and Little Mix. I did also find a great playlist on Spotify called Beach Vibes that I love to play while out by the pool for a truly relaxing time.

What I’m Wearing/Favorite Transitional Piece

Wrapping two questions into one. I’ve been wearing a lot of dresses and skirts lately, mainly because I’ve had baby showers, track days and dinner to attend. My favorite transitional piece for fall would be a blazer or booties. The weather will turn in New York next month so I will get a lot more use out of those two items.

What I’m Doing This Weekend

Celebrating Labor Day weekend to the fullest with family and friends. Soaking up the last true weekend on the lake, paddle boarding, enjoying more fires and Zac Brown Band. This is the 3rd time Zac has performed at the end of the summer and it’s the best way to celebrate the weekend, listening to great music at the best outdoor venue on a late summer night 🙂

What I’m Looking Forward Too Next Month

The San Diego Film Festival. A film I acted in a long time ago is premiering at the festival and I’m excited to attend since it’ll be my first film festival. I’m also looking forward to seeing friends in LA! and football…:-)

What Else Is New…

Well this month did seem busy and I guess it’s because I had friends visiting, I went to the Patriots Training Camp, I’ve been enjoying the Saratoga Race Track, Lake George and pool/lake days 🙂 #SummerGirl
