Is it the middle of March already?!
Sometimes I think to myself where do these months go? I’m so happy spring is finally here in spirit because in reality I went skiing last week and the snow is still melting in the Northeast :-/. I’m linking up with Shay for what I’ve been up to lately!
WHAT I’M EATING:
After watching one tin 3 easy breakfast muffins on Goodful over and over, I finally decided to make them this weekend. The banana oat recipe was my favorite. I put strawberries and walnuts as my toppings 🙂
I indulged a little bit with my mom last week at dinner while in Daytona Beach. #itscalledbalanceright?
Yummy shrimp scampi and chocolate molten cake from Chart House in Daytona Beach, FL
On days that I’m home I’ve been trying to eat all three meals in. Breakfast: oatmeal/blueberries Lunch: peanut butter & jelly/apple/carrots/pretzels Dinner: Ground fajita turkey/peppers/rice
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
can I just go back now?! The food, the people, the spirit, everything was so amazing down in the bayou!
WHAT I’M LOVING:
I’ve been on a little bit of a sunglasses kick lately and I’ve accumulated too many pairs (see below lol). I like cheaper glasses for when I’m near the pool or the lake because then I don’t worry about them getting damaged/lost.
WHAT I’VE BEEN UP TO:
I made a quick trip to Daytona Beach this month to spend time with my mom while my dad was traveling for work. It was so nice to spend the time with my mom and go visit an elderly childhood neighbor of hers. It was a great reminder of how much joy you can bring to someone by just showing up 🙂
WHAT I’M DREADING:
I couldn’t think of a specific thing, but while pondering this question I felt overwhelmed thinking about my schedule. Does anyone else dread being overbooked and overcommitted to things? I like to think I’m conscious of this issue but then things creep up on you. #workinprogress
WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
I guess you could say I’m working on managing my time and saying no to things after the last question.
However, for the past few weeks I’ve been working on using less technology or having extra distractions around. I’ve been keeping my phone in another room at night and not checking it right away in the morning. I’ve also been turning the radio off when I’m driving in the car. This one has been huge because it really helps me relax while driving and focus on where I’m going to next. It’s helping me focus on my goal of doing one thing at a time this year.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
Heading to the Bahamas tomorrow!! to celebrate my beautiful mama turning 50 🙂 I’m so excited to spend this time with my parents and siblings since I know it may be the last trip where it’s just the 5 of us.
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
I read a really impactful book this month called When Breathe Becomes Air which is about a neurosurgeon who was diagnosed with cancer and passed away at the age of 36 in 2015. He had been up close and personal with death throughout his career and unfortunately had to face it too soon himself. The book is his memoir that he started while he was sick and his wife finished it in a beautifully honest way. I was in tears at the end but reminded that you have to be intentional with your time because you don’t know how much you have in this life. I highly recommend it!
I watched the last few episodes of the Bachelor, but I think I’m done with the series. It feels too made up now and I need to focus on all the other great shows out there! I finally finished House of Cards and I’m trying my hardest to keep up with Gilmore Girls, Nashville (WHY DID THEY BREAK MY HEART LIKE THAT?!) and MTV’s The Challenge (don’t judge me, it’s my guilty pleasure lol).
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
I’ve been listening to more podcasts than music lately. It’s unusual for me, but I’m definitely on a podcast kick right now and here are a few of my favorites:
How I Built This– I love hearing entrepreneur’s stories on how they built their businesses, especially when their ideas weren’t conventional at the time.
GaryVee Audio Experience-My cousin recommended this one to me because Gary has a “no excuses to life’s issues” attitude when it comes to business and knows I like that train of thought. It IS a little risqué because of his language but sometimes you need a verbal kick in the bum to get things done 😉
Stuff You Missed in History Class– I’m a huge US/World history fan and all though history was one of my favorite subject in school, and I paid attention, this podcast is awesome. The history topics are wide ranging from how Martha’s Vineyard only used sign language as a form of communication or how there was a nine day queen in the United Kingdom. I think this podcast is going to help out my trivia knowledge too!

WHAT I’M WEARING:
I finally documented more than one outfit this month! Wohoo!
Casually trying not to freeze from the low temps and wind in Daytona last week .
I’d say this is a standard travel outfit for me. The jacket is also my spring essential! It goes with all my other pieces and layers perfectly for the spring weather.
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Hopefully finally going to see Beauty & The Beast (There’s still time to enter to win a chance to stay at Dunn’s Castle in Scotland!!)
Also I will be packing, organizing, and doing things I always tell myself I’m going to get done on the weekends when I’m home.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
My birthday! April is my favorite month and that’s mainly because it’s my birthday month. I love that the weather starts getting warmer, the days start getting longer and the flowers start blooming. I’ll still be in the Bahamas for my birthday (funny how that worked out ;-)), so I will be enjoying beach cocktails and some sun to celebrate.
WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
I’m ready for warmer temps, pastels, open toed shoes and spring weekend getaways!
(See spring essential in What I’m Wearing, it’s my green jacket)
Have a great day 🙂
