WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
Lots of coffee and apple cider donuts!! I love when the country stores around my hometown have their fall baked goods out! I have to go to an extra gym class just to work off my cider donut obsession.
I’m cooking my way through my recipes Pinterest board and this one was a hit this week. A yummy spicy sausage and kale soup that is perfect for these fall cold nights! A good way to get your vegetables too!
This year I wanted to make an apple pie from scratch so I put it on my fall goals list, which are coming along nicely. I decided to make Lauren Conrad’s Apple Pie recipe and it turned out great! The crust making was hard and I’ll have to keep practicing to master it but my family didn’t seem to mind that it wasn’t perfect, it was gone in seconds 🙂
WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
One Tree Hill. From time to time I find myself seeking out a certain episode from my favorites TV series of all time. The music I downloaded from the show through all those years pops up on my music shuffle all the time and I think spurs my watching episodes before I fall asleep at night.
WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
Mainly hanging out with family while going to football games or watching them. Adding new workouts with my best friend Mal when I’m not doing my Pinterest workouts. Playing with my god daughter. Going to my new improv theatre for classes and shows. Accomplishing all my fall goals to get the most out of this season. I’ll have an update on them in a few weeks to see how I enjoyed all of them!
WHAT I’M DREADING:
The weather getting even colder than the burst of 30-40’s weather we’ve had in New York lately. I think my blood thinned too much in Los Angeles this past few years. I have a ton of sweaters but it’s my hands and feet that always seem to get so cold, anyone have any favorite winter socks or gloves?! I’d love to check some new ones out!
WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
Social media strategies, voice overs, improv and more content for this blog, especially travel quotes to share on Pinterest 🙂 Check out my not to miss things to do in Florence from yesterday!
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
Going to see Carrie Underwood live tomorrow night! She is on my list of concerts to see and I’m so excited to cross this one off. I’m also excited for the CMA’s 50th Show next week! I never considered myself a huge country fan but I think at this point I listen to enough to be considered one. I love a lot of the stars of country music too so I’m excited to see the show. Oh and Halloween!!
WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
Ok so I’m finally on to reading some positive books thanks to Mix and Match Mama’s September book review. I was in the same boat as her, looking for more positive and uplifting reads since I’ve been reading dark and dreary books lately #GirlOnATrain. Quick side note, I thought Emily Blunt did a great job in the movie but thats about it. Well somehow I looked up the wrong book at the library that Shay had recommended and not until I started reading it did I realize it was the wrong book. I’m happy I came across Rising Strong (I feel like it may have happened for a reason) it’s been a great read so far. I highly recommend it if you are looking for some inspiration to keep getting back up, whether professionally or personally.
After realizing the mix up I went back to the library and picked up Uninvited and have been enjoying the message from this book as well. I’ll review both books more in-depth on a Friday Favorites post when I’m finished with them.
The last one I wanted to talk about Lilac Girls, a powerful book I started and finished this past month. It’s from the point of view of a New York society woman, a Polish school girl who goes to a concentration camp and a German doctor who works at the camp during World War II. It’s tough at times because of the subject matter but overall it’s an important story about what woman had to deal with during those awful times and the relationships that kept them alive.
As far as what I’m watching thats my normal football and Dancing with The Stars (Jana and Calvin are my favorites to watch). However I did just watch the Amanda Knox Documentary on Netflix and thought it was interesting but I still think she is innocent and was caught up in the perfect storm.
WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
I’m gearing up for Carrie Underwood tomorrow night so I’ve been listening to a lot of her music. I also got the chance to meet Gavin Degraw a few weeks ago and I have been listening to his old songs and downloaded his new one “She sets the city on fire”.
Also Mike & Mike in the morning on ESPN radio, love those two!
WHAT I’M WEARING:
This is my main outfit these days lol but for real I completely failed on taking pictures of my outfits these past few weeks and some of them I loved.
This picture was the only full length one I could find that incorporates my favorite new cold shoulder shirt and new favorite Lucky Brand booties, which seem to be sold out. There’s always next month for better #ootd pics 😉
WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Celebrating Halloween! I do have a minimal costume planned for Monday when I’ll be with my god daughter that I’ll excited to show it off next week on the blog.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
Thanksgiving, because one of my favorite meals is turkey with all the fixings 🙂 Also a lot of new babies are on their way from family and friends to be thankful for! I can’t wait for baby visits to snuggle them.
WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
Enjoying it all 🙂
What is your favorite Halloween memory/picture/tradition:
I have a few different halloween memories that I was reminiscing about with my mom this week. Growing up we always use to head to my aunts house to have a special soup they would make with grilled cheese before going out trick or treating with my cousins. We also would for a few years drive out to Middletown, RI to see my Dad & Uncle’s friends who built a fabulously scary haunted house in their barn every October. It was seriously the coolest thing and the best way to celebrate Halloween. I miss those days!
Thanks for stopping by, I can’t wait to see what everyone else has been up too!
If you want to keep up with what I’m doing through out the week
